You could have the freedom, both financially and in your schedule, to travel when you want, to take days off “just because,” and to be involved in the daily running of the business because you want to (rather than because you’re afraid it may fall apart without you there).

Welcome to Level 4 of your business growth!

You’re getting to the point in your small business growth to where you can grow a more robust, specialized team – but where do you start? It might seem like you have a lot of areas that you might need help in, but you don’t want to hire too quickly. I’ve been there! At this level of growth, you’ll want to look for people who are open to collaboration and innovation.

Growing a business is a bit like being on a never-ending roller coaster: it’s the ride of your life, but filled with exciting ups and downs. You’ll rarely stay in one place for long, and even if you do, you’ll encounter twists and turns. This is fun when you’re on a theme park ride, but when the health of your business it at stake, you’ll want to have a road map to help you navigate the different levels of business growth.

Growing your own business is an amazing experience, but it’s not an easy thing to do – and it’s not something you can do all by yourself. You need a superstar team behind you, one who is able to innovate and help you build strong systems.

At the end of the year, I find it to be a good practice to reflect back on the past year – both the highs and the lows. Many times, I’ll see various business owners celebrating their wins (which is something I wholeheartedly support) or simply putting the past year behind and moving on to what’s next. I’ve noticed that it’s quite rare, however, for business owners to actively recognize both the highs and lows from the previous year.
